A Multi-Agent Cellular Automata Model of Pedestrian Movement

چکیده
This paper reports on the development of a multi-agent cellular automata model of pedestrian movement and decision making within the built environment. The approach will lead to a system that may serve as a tool in the design process to better understand how a design will influence user behaviour.

A Simple and Realistic Pedestrian Model for Crowd Simulation and Application
The simulation of pedestrian crowd that reflects reality is a major challenge for researches. Several crowd simulation models have been proposed such as cellular automata model, agent-based model, fluid dynamic model, etc. It is important to note that agent-based model is able, over others approaches, to provide a natural description of the system and then to capture complex human behaviors. In...
متن کاملA Multi-Agent Cellular Automata System for Visualising Simulated Pedestrian Activity
This paper describes the first impressions of the development of a multi-agent system that can be used for visualising simulated pedestrian activity and behaviour to support the assessment of design performance. This system is based on cellular automata and agent technology. Agents represent objects or people with their own behaviour, moving over a pedestrian network. Each agent is located in a...
متن کاملFundamentals of Pedestrian and Evacuation Dynamics
Multi-Agent Simulation is a general and powerful framework for understanding and predicting the behaviour of social systems. Here we investigate the behaviour of pedestrians and human crowds, especially their physical movement. Our aim is to build a bridge between the multi-agent and pedestrian dynamics communities that facilitates the validation and calibration of modelling approaches which is...

Multiple application areas have an interest in pedestrian dynamics. These range from urban design of public areas to evacuation dynamics to effective product placement within a store. In Hoogendoorn et al [Hoogendoorn 2002] multiple abstractions utilized in simulations or calculations involving pedestrian agents include (1) cost models for selected route choice, (2) macroscopic pedestrian opera...
متن کاملA Framework Combining Cellular Automata and Multi-Agents in a Unified Simulation System for Crowd Control
Controlling crowds in airports, train terminals, sporting events, etc., is a complex problem. This particular problem has a great deal of interaction between the entities themselves (i.e. among the individual members of the crowd) and the crowd (or individuals) with the environment in which the crowd is placed. This complexity of this system can be described in the much researched area of artif...
